The purpose of the ola kino program is to foster and stimulate
mental, emotional, and physical health and fitness. During Ola
Kino class, an 'opio may be playing familiar sports, Hawaiian
games, have a guest speaker share ho'opono (conflict resolution)
methods, or watch a play about the negative effects of choosing
to smoke cigarettes. We aim to encourage all learners at HKM – young
and old – to establish lifelong interests in healthy living,
from learning healthy ways to deal with emotions and conflict,
to being physically active and fit throughout their lives. In
addition to incorporating ola kino (health, nutrition, and fitness)
into the curriculum, we offer the following activities during
electives, afterschool, and/or weekends.
