We ask that you:
· Be aged 15 or above
· Live / Work / Play / Love Kalihi
· Have a strong interest in art, developing your talents,
and transforming public spaces
· Be able to participate in 3 art workshops

and painting of the wall mural in October

08/31/2010 - Stop Flu at School
Aloha e na 'ohana!

We are participating in the "STOP FLU AT SCHOOL" program again this year, on Friday November 5, 2010. The consent forms are being sent home with your child this week. There will be three (3) forms; 1) Inactivated Influenza Vaccine Info (SHOT) 2) Live, Intranasal Influenza Vaccine Info (NASAL SPRAY) and 3) STUDENT Vaccination Consent Form. You can choose between the two (2) vaccinations. Please ask your child for the consent form, complete it, and turn it in to Kapua by Friday September 17, 2010. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns, at 945-1600.
08/19/2010 - Mid Quarter Progress Reports
Aloha Makua!

Mid Quarter Progress Reports are coming up! Please check your child's ha'awina log binder to review and sign their progress reports during the week of September 6 - 10, 2010. If your child's Mid Quarter Progress Report is not reviewed and signed by a makua, by Monday September 13, 2010, his/her name will be added to the kānāwai log. Please feel free to call us with any questions or concerns at 945-1600.

Meetings are held the last Wednesday of the month at 6:00pm at the Halau Ku Mana Campus.

No activities are planned so far this year and we can really use enthusiastic Ohana members to get us moving.

08/18/2010 - `Onipa`a Na Hui Kalo Work Day at Lyon Arboretum
Saturday & Sunday
August 21st and 22nd, 2010
8:00 am to 4:00 pm

For the past seven years, Lyon Arboretum has been partnering
with Hālau Kū Mana NCPCS and others in the community to restore
the ancient lo`i terraces nestled in the back of majestic
Manoa valley in the area traditionally called `Aihualama on the
grounds of the Lyon Arboretum.
`Onipa`a Na Hui Kalo will be hosting a community workday
event at the Lyon Arboretum to continue the work of restoring
this traditional lo`i systems. We are calling out to the Mānoa
Community and the kalo community island-wide for all the support
we can get for this workday. Mahalo!
08/13/2010 - Shop and Score Free Athletic Equipment for Halau Ku Mana!
Beginning August 25th, when you shop at Times supermarkets and purchase Kraft Foods products, Halau Ku Mana will score free athletic equipment! That's because Kraft Foods in Hawaii and Times supermarkets have once again teamed up to provide Oahu schools with the opportunity to earn a share of $200,000 worth of free athletic equipment from Adidas through the Shop and Score program.

Earning points is easy and parents, students, alumni and other community members are encouraged to get involved. Halau Ku Mana will earn points every time Kraft Foods and other designated products are purchased at any Times Supermarket on Oahu.

The shop and save program runs through October 5, 2010. For more information, please visit Times Supermarkets on Oahu.

Mahalo to everyone that applied to attend Halau Ku Mana for school year 2010-2011. We have currently ended our enrollment for this school year.

Aloha! Here are a current list of supplies for various classes. If your classes are not listed they will be added here soon. You will be able to pick up a hard copy of these lists at La Ohana and the first day of school.

Reminder first day of school La Ohana Saturday July 31st, 2010 from 9am - 2pm in Makiki.

Reminder that La Ohana is a mandatory school day for the 'opio and at least one adult ohana member.

Please park in Kalae, the area just ma kai of the campus drop off area (8:30 am arrival recommended)
