Punikai'a Scholarship Fund. Mr. Punikai'a was a patient on Kalaupapa, a composer and Hawaiian musician. He also served on the Board of Health. His music has recently been recorded by Dennis Kamakahi and Stephen Inglis. He left funds in his trust to help Hawaiian children learn music. Mr. Wally Inglis (father of Stephen Inglis) presented the scholarship award to us in person and shared a little of Mr. Punikai'a's music. It is truly an honor for Hālau Kū Māna Public Charter School to be a recipient of this scholarship fund. Mahalo nui to Bernard K. Punikai'a's generosity and legacy!
