School-Based Academic Officer

Hālau Kū Māna Public Charter School is looking for an innovative, results-oriented and proven leader that will work with an existing dynamic team to advance the school into the next era of Indigenous education. As a leader within our school community, the School-Based Academic Officer will bring experience, expertise and leadership in order to refine, develop and implement a high quality, academically rigorous and standards aligned instructional program that is rooted in kuanaʻike Hawaiʻi.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years experience in classroom instruction, curriculum development and the implementation of instructional programs. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to negotiate the inherent tensions of Indigenous education in manner that equally advances kuanaʻike Hawaiʻi and academic rigor without sacrifice to student success.

Kū Kia'i Mauna "Awareness Rally for Maunakea" Aloha!

Hālau Kū Māna PCS faculty, staff, and students will be attending an event “Awareness Rally for Maunakea” at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Our learning ‘ohana will be participating and engaging with scientists, educators, and supporters who will be speaking and presenting on current issue affecting all of Hawai‘i. This event is open to the public, parents are welcome to attend, but students must remain with the school at all times.

* Please bring sack lunch, water bottle and sun screen!
Hālāwai 'Aha Makua

Hālāwai 'Aha Makua Hālau Kū Māna PCS will be having an important ‘Aha Makua meeting on Wednesday March 25, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. here on campus. The ‘Aha Makua is a formal organization composed of parents, teachers and staff that is intended to facilitate parental participation in our school. At this meeting, our Po‘o Kumu will share his vision for our school, and the expectations and kuleana of the ‘Aha Makua for the upcoming school year 2015 - 2016. We will also be accepting nominations and voting for new officers to lead the ‘Aha Makua in the new school year. Please make every effort to attend and be a part of making a difference in our learning ‘ohana.
