Hālāwai 'Aha Makua

Hālāwai 'Aha Makua Hālau Kū Māna PCS will be having an important ‘Aha Makua meeting on Wednesday March 25, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. here on campus. The ‘Aha Makua is a formal organization composed of parents, teachers and staff that is intended to facilitate parental participation in our school. At this meeting, our Po‘o Kumu will share his vision for our school, and the expectations and kuleana of the ‘Aha Makua for the upcoming school year 2015 - 2016. We will also be accepting nominations and voting for new officers to lead the ‘Aha Makua in the new school year. Please make every effort to attend and be a part of making a difference in our learning ‘ohana.

Letters of Intent to Return for School Year 2015 - 2016

Letters of Intent to Return for School Year 2015 - 2016 will be sent home this week. In order to properly plan for next school year, which include budgeting and new student invites, we are asking that you return this Letter of Intent to Return no later than Friday March 27, 2015. Foodland's Shop for Higher Education

We are excited to announce that we are now registered to participate in Foodland's 2015 Shop for Higher Education Program. The program will run for 6 weeks from February 4, 2015 to March 17, 2015. Our school code is 7516 Halau Ku Mana NCPCS, please give the cashier at Foodland, Sack 'N Save and Foodland Farms our school code every time you shop so we can get the Maika'i points. The more Maika'i points our school gets, the more scholarships we will get for our students. More information will be forth coming. Mahalo!

School Resumes on Tuesday, January 13, 2015
Faculty and staff will be ready to welcome students back to school on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. It will be the start of 3rd quarter and the second semester of the school year. Please ensure that your child(ren) arrive to school on-time and in dress code.

MANDATORY - LĀ ʻOHANA, Saturday January 17, 2015
Lā ʻOhana will be on January 17, 2015 at the Hālau Kū Māna Campus. As we begin the second semester, the theme for this Lā ʻOhana is self-reflection, goal setting, and vision planning. ʻOhana will receive reports on their ʻōpio’s academic progress and will have the opportunity to conference with at least one of the student’s teacher (Note: 4&5th grade conferences will start on Friday 01/16/15. More information to come from Kumu Consuelo). Parents will also participate in a strategic planning workshop and a parent and child goal setting workshop. Student work from the previous semester from each project will also be displayed.

School Year 2015-2016 Applications Available
Applications for the 2015-2016 School Year is available. If you know of any family or friends looking for options in public education and for a school grounded in Hawaiian culture with a focus on 21st century success, have them consider Hālau Kū Māna. They can call the office (945-1600) get an application and schedule a school visit/tour on one of the following dates (all Thursdays @ 4:30PM): January 8, 22; February 5, 19; March 5, 19.

Calendar Changes - Please Read
After review and consideration, the school administration has revised the current school year calendar. A revised calendar can be printed from the school website (www.halaukumana.org) and one will be included with your child's 2nd quarter report card. Here's a summary of the date changes:
Friday, March 27 - School is in session (No longer a school holiday)
Saturday, March 28 - NO Lā ʻOhana
Friday, April 10 - School is in session (No longer a school holiday)
Saturday, April 18 - Lā ʻOhana (rescheduled)
Friday, May 29 - LAST DAY FOR STUDENTS
Saturday, May 30 - GRADUATION DAY @ HKM Campus

Hālau Kū Māna Public Charter School's Open Enrollment for SY 2015-2016

We are now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 school year! Please submit a completed application by December 31, 2014.

As part of our admission process, each family must attend a school tour to learn more about our educational program, which is culturally and spiritually grounded in the land and culture of Hawaiʻi, as well as get information on our school enrollment. Each applicant must attend our school tour with at least one parent/guardian. Please contact the main office at (808) 945-1600 to schedule a school tour.

Tour Dates: Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. on the following dates.

1/8/15, 1/22/15, 2/5/15, 2/19/15, 3/5/15, 3/19/15
